Erosion and Sediment Control Turf

Field being planted

Native grasses produced as a turf type product for sediment and erosion control.  Our native grass (turf) mix  is a blend of the following:

Warm Season Grasses

Elymus canadensis - Nodding Wild Rye

Schizachyrium scoparium - Little Bluestem

Bouteloua curtipendula - Side-Oats Grama

Sporobolus heterolepis - Prairie Dropseed

Cool Season Grasses

Poa pratensis - Kentucky Bluegrass

Festuca arundinacea - Turf Type Tall Fescue

The predominant mix of warm season grasses with a small percentage of cool season grasses ensures establishment of the turf in any growing season. The 24" x 54" piece of turf also contains reinforcement netting to help with establishment especially on very steep slopes.  Just pin the turf in place using conventional sod pins and within 7-14 days you will have established sediment and erosion control, no waiting on hydro-seeding to germinate.

The Reinforcement Netting

Our special turf reinforcement netting configuration is designed to help grass seedlings germinate and grow in a uniformly strong structure.  The roots intertwine with the durable mesh and prevents separation from the soil when rolled during harvest.  This reinforcement netting also helps stabilizes the native turf mix while establishment is taking place making it an ideal sediment and erosion control product.
